Investigation of Workplace Harassment, Discrimination, Bullying, and Violence

There are times when harassment, discrimination, bullying or violence can occur in the workplace despite the best efforts of employers to prevent it.

Mark Hertzberger is a trained specialist with extensive experience in the human rights and interpersonal communications fields. Working as an investigator, he is a neutral fact finder who confidentially interviews the complainant, the alleged harasser, and any witnesses to the alleged harassment. Evidence is gathered and a confidential report is prepared by the investigator which sets out the facts and examines them in the context of the organization's internal policy or collective agreement as well as applicable human rights legislation and occupational health and safety legislation, such as Bill 168.

The report and accompanying recommendations are submitted in confidence to the employer who determines what action will be taken. After the investigation, customized follow-up services are also available. These include training, courses, coaching, team facilitation, and mediation for employees, as well as coaching, training, and the development of policies and procedures for management . All are designed to assist in restoring workplace function and morale.
